- Inferior subluxation of the humeral head is common after trauma of the proximal humerus, glenoid fracture, shoulder dislocation with nerve injury, isolated brachial plexus injury and postoperatively.

- Shoulder series demonstrates discontinuity in the scapulohumeral line with inferior sublxation of the humeral head.
- Consider EMG if assocaited nerve injury is a concern.
Inferior Subluxation of the Humeral Head Classification / Treatment
- Without neurovascular compromise: observation with arm supported in a sling to reduce inferior subluxation. PT focused on isometric exercises for the deltoid and rotator cuff. Generally completely resovles with time.
- With neurovascular injury: treatment is determined by the neurovasulcar injury.
