Sciatica Natural History

• 53% of patients with true sciatica will have persistent symptoms for >4yrs. (Tubach F, J Clin Epidemiol 2004;57:174)
• Factors predictive of the persistence or recurrence of sciatica are: driving at least 2 hr/day, carrying heavy loads at work, and a high level of psychosomatic problems. (Tubach F, J Clin Epidemiol 2004;57:174)
